![]() God is your friend and your prayers are your conversation with your friend. Like any good friend, God wants to hear about your hopes and dreams and troubles and concerns. Like any good friend, God comforts and strengthens you. He shares his wisdom, grace and love with you. His Holy Spirit fills you with hope and enthusiasm. Don't get overly concerned with the mechanics or rituals of prayer. As Pope John Paul II teaches, "Pray any way you like, so long as you do pray." Use a prayer book or rosary beads or just open your heart to a friend. Speak with devotion and humility and confidence. Every time you see a sunset or hear a child's laugh or receive a wish and you thank God, you are praying. Every time you work hard or help another and you offer your efforts in God's name, you are praying. As Jesus Christ has promised us, "Ask and it shall be given to you." Wow, what a friend! |
