How will the younger generation of Catholics learn about their faith? How will we be able to influence the national debate on life, peace and cultural issues? How will we be able to answer and reason with the cynics, critics and those with justifiable concerns? We must study, practice and teach our Catholic faith. Knowledge is power. As parishioners, as parents, as individuals, we must make a life long commitment to broaden and share our Catholic educations. There is a wonderful interesting history to our faith. There is excitement and inspiration to be found in the lives of the saints. There is a deep satisfaction from the bonds we share with our priests and sisters and brothers who have served so many millions in so many places so selflessly. This is our Catholic tradition. This is our Catholic heritage; over two thousand years of service in the name of God. Read the Bible and other books on Catholic doctrine. Study the catechism. Subscribe to Catholic magazines and newspapers. Visit Catholic websites. Watch Catholic television. Know where we have been. Know where we are now. Know where we are going, stronger and wiser. |
